How do you create multiple educational websites that feel connected while still meeting the needs of different audiences and brands?

Educational Websites for Uddevalla kommun

In this project, we created three new websites in Sitevision for Uddevalla Municipality:

  • Adult Education

  • Higher Vocational Education

  • Nordic Tailoring School

The goal was to create modern, accessible, and user-centered websites tailored to different target groups, while still maintaining a cohesive digital experience across all platforms.

I worked as the responsible lead UX/UI Designer throughout the project, with a strong focus on accessibility, usability, and responsive design.

My Role

I was the responsible lead UX/UI Designer across all three websites.

My responsibilities included:

  • UX and UI design

  • Wireframing and prototyping

  • Responsive and mobile-first design

  • Accessibility and WCAG compliance

  • Information architecture and navigation

  • Collaboration with developers and stakeholders

  • Creating graphic elements and UI components

I worked closely with both the development team and the client throughout the project to ensure the websites met both user needs and organizational requirements.

The Challenge

The challenge was to create three separate websites with different audiences, goals, and visual identities, while still making it clear that they belonged to the same educational ecosystem.

The websites needed to:

  • feel modern and easy to navigate

  • support different educational offerings and audiences

  • work seamlessly across devices

  • be accessible and inclusive

  • balance unique branding with shared UX principles

Process

The project combined UX strategy, UI design, accessibility, and close collaboration between design, development, and stakeholders.

The design work included:

  • wireframes

  • clickable prototypes

  • responsive layouts

  • reusable UI components

  • accessibility-focused design decisions

The process was highly iterative, with continuous feedback sessions and close collaboration with both the client and developers.

Figma was used throughout the project for design and prototyping, while Adobe Illustrator was used to create icons and graphic elements.

Solution

The result was three modern and accessible educational websites in Sitevision built around shared UX principles and tailored visual identities.

The solution focused on:

  • intuitive navigation

  • responsive and mobile-first design

  • accessible interfaces aligned with WCAG 2.2 AA

  • consistent UX patterns across all websites

  • flexible and scalable design systems

Together, the websites created a stronger and more cohesive digital presence for Uddevalla Municipality’s educational offerings.

Outcome

The project resulted in:

  • Three new educational websites

  • Improved usability and accessibility

  • More modern and cohesive digital experiences

  • Responsive and scalable UX/UI solutions

Key Learning

This project strengthened my experience in designing accessible and scalable digital ecosystems where consistency, branding, and usability needed to work together across multiple platforms.
